Among the many blasphemous proceedings under the trump high jacking of the United States and all its democratic institutions, the attack on Dr. Anthony Fauci stands out. Sure, when little donny went after Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy because he wasn’t dressed properly and didn’t show appropriate obeisance to the mentally challenged president, the world shuddered. But, like all of those attacked by j.d. and d.j., Zelenskyy was the one who retained his dignity. Those fools even went after the Pope—and were disgraced in the world’s view.

But they still continue on, like Halloween zombies, and this time were desperate to disparage the man who essentially rescued the country from the scourge of Covid, even after trump’s continual battle to make light of the epidemic, while suggesting that the populace could do well by drinking bleach or taking horse medication. And yet now Fauci is hauled before a republican attack-dog committee and accused of everything from intentionally causing deaths to treason. The hearing featured conspiracy theories and personal attacks, with republicans taunting Dr. Fauci as a megalomaniac and a liar.

Through it all Dr. Fauci remained stoic and refused to answer any of the absurd accusations. This so-called hearing wasn’t about actually gathering information, but simply a way for the failing republican goons to once again bring up false claims about the efficacy of vaccines during the needed shut-down. It was truly about one thing only—spreading more false information to certain voters who are susceptible to conspiracy theories—the drug of choice for maga world. A drug that has convinced a surprisingly large swath of otherwise reasonable citizens to believe that vaccines are somehow the work of devil communists. All of which has led to a spike in childhood diseases, almost solely among the unvaccinated. The U.S. is now experiencing a major surge in cases of measles, with a 35-year high of over 2300 confirmed cases and numerous outbreaks. Say thank-you to conspiracy wacko number one, Bobby (crazy-ass) Kennedy, junior. (The Kennedy name capitalized here only out of respect to the memory of his decent forebears.)

Dr. Fauci is now 85 years old and has served this country for over three decades as the Director of the National Institute of infectious diseases from 1984 to 2022, and was the chief medical advisor to the president from 2021 to 2022, when Covid-19 was finally reigned in. In his long career he was also one of the scientists who helped curtail the AIDS epidemic—something right-wingers appear to hold against him, for unfortunately obvious reasons. I could go on singing Fauci’s praises and detailing the work he has done in the cause of science. But perhaps Dr. Fauci’s work as a scientist is exactly what this band of rogue senators holds against the man. Like the demented president, they see science as simply another manifestation of a liberal embrace of DEI—that bugaboo. Real men and women don’t need science. It’s all a hoax, just like climate change or the history of slavery. We’re dumb and proud of it these trumpian stooges proclaim, and go after anybody who stands in the way, using every tool at their disposal to eliminate perceived enemies, whether it destroys lives or not. The end goal is always the same—to retain power for the ruling class, the billionaires, the entitled, the white nationalists. Dr. Fauci made the unforgivable mistake of  trying to be reasonable and to honor scientific research. When this current nonsense settles down his reputation will remain clean, those who attack him will forever be themselves besmirched…
